Why not develop a publicity plan?
So you have decided to host a fundraising event on behalf of STARS. Thank you. Now we suggest you plan how you are going to publicise it to make sure you do not miss any opportunities and maximise you success.
Follow these tips and should not go far wrong.
- Write your press release. Why not follow our guidelines?
- Start by putting up posters in your local area announcing the event and date. Try places like community centres, surgeries, village notice boards, shops, post offices, schools, your workplace etc. Just remember you must seek permission, as it is illegal to fly-poster.
- Review your local media opportunities. Make a list of local newspapers, radio, TV, magazines, company newsletters, company and government intranet sites and even specialist publications.
- Why not get a notice read out at key locations such as schools, church services and even local political party meetings.
- It always pays to advertise your event in the local papers ‘What’s on section’. Try all media formats i.e. web, radio and newspaper.
- Make sure you tell everybody you know, they will in turn let others know.
