Your fundraising event can be big news. Local media in your area will always be on the look out for events in the area. Gaining publicity can be a great way of:
- getting more sponsors
- developing your fundraising techniques and skills.
Getting noticed is the key. An article in a local paper, a piece on a local radio station or even if your lucky a slot on regional TV news will get the event you are running noticed and as a result make it easier to approach people for sponsorship.
It is a good idea to collect the cuttings of the first event you successfully manage and then use these articles as means of lending credibility to your efforts in the future.
Don’t forget that local news is also an excellent way of acknowledging the support of your supporters, sponsors, volunteers, employer or other companies that may have helped you with your event.
