Over the years STARS has accumulated many worthy voluntary fundraisers and we have compiled this short list of tips to help you come up with successful ideas for future work.
How about simply holding a collection outside a local shopping centre in your local area? We will provide you with a T-Shirt and collection boxes/buckets. Please refer to Collection Tin Procedures
Why not host a quiz at your local pub, community centre or even at work? Try and get the venue for free and charge per person or per team. If you want a set of questions feel free to ask us for help. If you are holding it a pub try and get the landlord to offer a prize.
Why not try a dress down day at your place of work or school? First gain the relevant permissions, then charge colleagues/school friends £1 or more for the privilege.
Bake sales and homegrown produce goes down a storm at work so get cooking and growing and sell, sell, sell.
Why not test your cooking skills and charge people so much for a meal or try and get the support of a local restaurant? Ask them to provide a £10 menu and charge £15- £20 for tickets.
Book a pitch at car boot or tabletop sale and collect unwanted goods from family, friends and work colleagues to sell on behalf of STARS.
On a larger scale you could organise a Ball or a Gala Dinner. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time for planning. Find a venue and negotiate costs, work out your overheads per head and price tickets with a profit in mind. You could try an auction or raffle at the event as well. See organising events
Why not abstain from something in your life? Give up sweets, booze or cheese and then get sponsorship. We can provide the forms or you can download them from the site
Why not arrange to wash cars in your local area? Set up a work station at a community centre or on your own drive if its big enough and charge per car
Maybe your company has a match-giving policy in place. Many larger companies will meet your fundraising activities £1 for £1 up to a set amount. This will part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy.
Collect together unwanted Christmas/birthday presents and items donated from local shops to host a raffle at a school or pub. You could either hold a tombola or put a description of each prize in an envelope and hang them from a ceiling or tree. Then charge £5 an envelope or less for raffle tickets.
